Day 52: 4 Mini-braid Wrapped Bun

Hair du Jour Day 52: February 21, 2012

4 Mini-Braid Wrapped Bun

How to do it:
Pull sections of hair from each side of your head like you're going to do a simple half up do.  Clip up if needed.  Divide each of the side sections in two.  Braid one section back away from the front of your face and secure with tiny elastic.  Braid the other half of the section in a braid that runs right next to the first braid, secure with tiny elastic.  Repeat with the other side of your head.  All in all you should have 4 braids, two on each side.

Pull middle section of hair (unbraided) into a medium height ponytail.  Secure with strong ponytail holder.  Wind ponytail into a bun.  Secure underneath with bobby pin x (to hold the weight of the hair better) and pin sides in with hair pins (see other posts to learn about the difference between bobby pins and hair pins).

Wind 1st braid around bun and pin securely with hair pins.  Repeat with the other 3 braids until you have all pieces pinned into place.  Spray the heck out of it!

Time to do it:  Under 5 minutes

I got so many compliments on this one.  I wore it to a Confirmation class that I taught to 8th graders :)  Fun for a night out or a formal event, but young enough to wear to an art fair or brunch.  Love the versatility and that I feel stylish without trying too hard (like my husbands say about old ladies in bright spandex, big hair and shoes from the junior section:  "Old lookin new") Yup yup.
