Day 54: French Braid to Side Braided Bun

Hair du Jour Day 54: February 23, 2012

French Braid to Side Braided Bun

How to do it:
French braid hair diagonally from top.  You may want to zig-zag the braid or make a straight line.  You want to end your braid on the opposite side of your head and continue braiding all the way to the tips of your hair.  Secure with tiny elastic.

Wind braid around into a bun, pinning strategically inside and outside of the spiral with hair pins.  Pinning one or more bobby pin x's (I recommend one underneath the bun and in the middle underneath this bun) holds the weight of the hair nicely for long periods of time so you don't get that "drooping" look after a long day or night of wear.  Pull a few romantic pieces out and spray lightly to tame fly-aways.  Don't forget that hairpins can tame poof or level out pieces that didn't braid evenly.  Happy Pinning!

Time to do it:  About 5 minutes

Was going for a French braid that wound around in different patterns just to see how well I could create different shapes.  Based on where it ended up on my head I decided to end it off in a bun.  BTW, each time I've written "French" in this post I've had to go back and correct it.  Franch.
