Day 66: Upside-Down French Braid Updo

Day 66: March 6, 2012

Upside-Down French Braid Updo

How to do it:
Flip hair upside-down. Brush. French braid beginning with the nape of your neck (which upside-down is your new "top") To French Braid: Take 3 small 1/2 inch pieces from the center. Alternating sides from left to right and left to right, etc, pick up 1/2 inch pieces to add to your original 3. Braid all the way to the end of your hair, but be sure to Leave a large portion of bangs free to do the deep part shown.  Secure braid with a tiny elastic. Flip your head right-side up.

Wind the tail of the braid around the top of your head (you may want to play with the placement of this braid). Pin with hair pins securely (you don't want to lose the look halfway into the night).

Smooth the bangs you left free into one solid piece (the section you want should start right above the corner of your eyebrow closest to your ear). Smooth the bangs down across your forehead, pinning them behind your ear (you can also play with the positioning of this bang section). The ends of my bangs were long enough to twist into a little rose shape that I pinned behind my ear. Place a sparkly headband gently on your head, check for areas that could use more hairpins, spray, and you're finished!

Time to do it: Under 5 minutes

Kickin it old school with the French braids! When I was a kid in the 80s my mom and my aunt would play with different ways to French Braid my hair, weaving hearts, circles, you name it. This was a favorite of theirs that I made into a quick Updo that's cheap and easy enough for you to do yourself (calling in your best friend or sister if you need assistance :) ) Voila!
