Day 74: Butterfly Braid

Hair du Jour Day 74:  March 14, 2012

Butterfly Braid

How to do it:
Topsy tail, topsy tail, topsy tail, ponytail.

Topsy Tail #1:  Pull hair into a half up do, a little higher than normal like you're going to create a French Braid.  Secure with tiny elastic.  Create a hole in the middle of the hair above the elastic and loop hair over and through.

Topsy Tail #2:  Pull two more pieces from an inch or two lower than the first topsy tail.  Secure another ponytail with a tiny elastic.  Create another topsy tail letting the tail of the first one remain next to your head.  This topsy will simply fall over the first.

Topsy Tail #3:  Same as #2.  Keep making them if you have room down your head.

Secure the bottom of your "braid" with a strong ponytail holder, tiny elastic, flowers, you name it.  Or leave hanging for a looser look.

Time to do it:  About 5 minutes.

Another mom's group creation (Put this up while I was talking to moms, toddlers, middle schoolers, etc).  At any stage in the do it would have looked nice enough to leave it be (half up, middle up, what have you).  I also wore a black leather headband (which I just realized you can't see) but made the look a little sexy.  Fist bump.  (And thanks, Domenica, for the idea!)
