Day 98: Side Twist Chignon

Hair du Jour Day 98: April 7, 2012

Side Twist Chignon

How to do it:
Draw hair to side in a low ponytail.  Secure with a strong ponytail holder.  Twist tail of ponytail and wrap tail back up to meet ponytail holder.  Tie carefully with a second strong ponytail holder (Use a color close to your hair color to create a classic look).  Spray lightly with hairspray to tame flyaways.

Time to do it:  About 10 minutes (my fingers wouldn't do what I wanted them to do)

The pictures really don't do this one justice.  It was so elegant and pretty with the suit I wore for work.  It really dressed up my look and made my business suit look very feminine (after seeing pictures of myself from another event I realized I look really dowdy in a suit if I pull my hair back from face.)  The solution?  Create a soft, feminine side chignon.  The most difficult part of this updo (which shouldn't have been difficult) was tying the second ponytail holder and not ruining the beautiful twisted loop I created.  It took me a lot of tries...mostly because I was in a rush to get to work on time and I needed more coffee.  I was also trying to use a ready-made hair helper (I'll show you later) and it wasn't working out.  Sometimes the "help" is more work than just using basic hair supplies.  Poo!
Love it, love it, love it, though.  This is going to be my go-to hair for events at work! (Next year, anyway.  I can't repeat any this year)
