Day 31: Flat Iron Waves

Day 31:  January 31, 2012

Flat Iron Waves

How to do it:
Start with towel-dried hair.  (Please do not stand in a puddle of water or douse electronics in the tub...towel-dried hair)
Turn on flat iron to begin heating.
Apply regular products to hair first (mine are Garnier Fructis Hair Serum and Bedhead Control Freak...good shine and good control for day-to-day humidity)
Twist hair in 1/4 to 1/2 strands from base to tip.
While still holding the twisted strand, Cinch hair from base to tip (like a stapler action).  You are drying the hair in the shape you twisted...don't press hard enough that you flatten the twist.  Repeat 2 or 3 times.
Set with hair spray (for fly-aways).
Repeat on remaining hair in 1/2 to 1/4 inch strands.
For future styles, vary the amount of thickness of the strands, which way you twist them, which products you use.  Be creative.

How long to do it:  For my hair, about 10 minutes.  Will depend on length of hair, thickness and how damp it is.

I know, I know.  "Nicole, you already have wavy hair." But...these are not my waves!  They are gorgeous, luxurious supermodel waves.  I recently put my 4 year old's hair in a bun while wavy and saw the gorgeous waves that resulted.  Brainflash:  You can make damp hair dry in any shape you would like it.  So much fun will be had from gleaning this information.  Hahahahahaha!
