Day 91: Casual Flat

Hair du Jour Day 91:  March 31, 2012

Casual Flat

How to do it:

On completely dry air-dried hair, run a very hot flat iron over bumps to smooth.  Emphasis is on overall look and not perfect straightness of every strand.  Poof!

Time to do it:  Less than 10 minutes, but depends on how long your hair is

Fortunately for me, I saw this through the day and how lovely the straightening held, but unfortunately for you the camera does not do it justice.  This was by the end of the day in high humidity.  The point is that you can go straight without spending oodles of hours primping and pruning.  Tricks:  Make sure your flat iron is really hot.  Make sure your hair is completely dry (either before you start or before you leave the house...any moisture will frizz or curl or terrifyingly...BOTH).  Use adequate products for your hair type.  I have thick hair comprised of fine strands that curl when they're short and wave when they're long.  Straight hair is hard for me!  Every day I use Garnier Fructis Serum (about 5.99 at the store) and BedHead's Control Freak (between 15 and 18 dollars).  This pic has neither which is why it's a little untamed after walking through the weather before a rainstorm (read: HIGH humidity).  Check it out if you have frizzy hair...or any hair for that matter.  Sleek and shiny never hurt anyone.  <3
